Sweet Baby Girl

Farley, one of my house mates (and very good friend) accidentally locked Gerty in the garage last night. It took me way too long to realize that she wasn't begging at my feet while I cooked dinner. When it finally dawned on me that she was not there, we searched every little nook and cranny in the house. Now panicking, we walked up and down the street yelling for her and even knocked on several neighbors door before finally going up stairs to recruit some help from the housemates. The 13 year old offered up several suggestion including mentioning that Farley had been in the garage earlier that evening, maybe she was in there. She was.

K-Swiss brought her out and she ran to me like she had been in there for days. She was as relived and happy to see me as I was to see her.

The thoughts that were running though my head while I searched for her were just awful! I kept looking into the fairly busy city street hoping that I didn't see anything distressing there. The dogs never have their collars on unless we are going someplace. What if someone had picked her up?!

Both the dogs now wear their collars full time. They keep looking at me like they want to know where we are going.

Mr. and Mrs.

Being married rocks! Next Sunday will be K-Swiss and My one month wedding anniversary (and my birthday btw.) We have known each other for ten plus years. Of those ten years we have been dating on and off for over seven of them, and living together for over five of those. After all that, we act like an old married couple. I never would have thought that just having a legal binding document between the two of us would change our relationship at all, but it has! We have been so much closer, and nicer to each other. We have been communicating better and have had deeper conversations. It's as if we needed that extra boost of commitment to let ourselves open up to each other. High Five to being married!

Wedding Day!

It's 6am here and I'm wide eyed and bushy tailed! I want to wake up to the sounds of the Ocean (and K Swiss snoring:) everyday, forever!

Although we have not been exploring much, this vacation has been a dream so far. Our Hotel room is amazing! It's a straight view 50 yards from the beach. My Sister and my Mom got in the same day we did. It's been a total joy to be on vacation with them. We had silly camera extravaganza on the beach for about 5 hrs yesterday. (pictures to come!) M and T (BFF's from San Fran) arrived yesterday. The six of us all went out to Fred's Fish House for dinner last night. We exposed Mom to sides of us I'm not sure she will ever succeed in wiping from memory. T has no censor at all! But he and M and K Swiss together are unbelievably hilarious! Mom was a good sport.

I'm still waiting to see K Swiss's Fam. They got in quite late yesterday and had crazy jet lag. My bff's from SLC are here too, but they are staying in Lahina which is about 45min. NW from here.

The wedding will be on the beach that I can see from my hotel room, this evening. I am really excited! The agenda for wedding morning: Coffee, breakfast, and more beach time.

Last Post as a Miss.
see you lates.

xoxo

Maui Here We Come!

Only 3 more days till we get hitched! We take off in the morning. The dogs are in play land for the next 2+ weeks. I don't know how we are going to deal without them!
It's all coming together. (Even though I have not even started packing yet! *it's 8pm the night before!*) I got my nails (thanks Wren!) and hair done today. I feel like I want to going out on the town. Must pack though. I let my bottle of wine help me with that. :)
I will tell you all about it when I get back. I haven't been posting because I have not wanted to share the details with those that will be joining us on Maui. I can't wait to share though! ttys!
Mahalo!

Don't hate me because I like pop music.

So, I was looking for some new workout music on iTunes yesterday. I know it's pretty damn cheesy, but I really love working out to pop music. I like to be the type of person that hates pop music, but it really makes my ass move. I found this great mix that was pretty up to date with a lot of the new stuff that is playing these days. "Top 50 Workout Songs" or something like that, for $9.99. 50 songs for ten bucks! Shit yeah! What a steel! I got Volume 1 and 2. I went out to the tredmill and started groovin to my new tunes...covers...all of them. 100 crappy covers! Workout ruined.

I want my $20 back.

She Works Hard for ....the ...her body.

Last month a friend of mine suggested taking a spin class to lose weight for my wedding, instead of cutting all of my favorite things out of my life. I decided that I really like my favorite things(!) and this spin class thing might be a good idea. The only class I've found that "fits" my schedule is twice a week at 5:45 am!!!! It's taken 5 weeks, but I think it's finally starting to work into my routine. I've made it to the last 3 classes in a row. I'm so proud of myself .

P.S. Kris? really?! Adam has more talent in his little toe.

The Weird One(s) of the Family

There is one in every family...right?

I called my brother's house about a month ago and my nephew answered the phone. He talked with me for a few minuets and then mentioned that the neighbors are beginning to get used to how peculiar his family is.

Billy Moone and his Pirate Family.
This is my oldest brother Bill and his family. For about 2 years now they have been performing at different festivals and things as a Pirate Family. They are quite talented, and really, quite adorable.

Two Weeks

I just (2 min. ago) gave my two week notice at my serving job. I have worked here (here! I'm still here drinking beer in the office) since March 2005. I have a lot of mixed emotions about this place, and leaving this place.

I started working here for several reasons:
1. I needed the money. RBG (my "real" job) didn't pay much.
2. I had just moved to SLC and needed a place to meet people.
3. After visiting this establishment on several occasions and observing the staff, it seemed like a really laid back place to work.

I stayed working here for so long for several reasons:
1. The money has been pretty good, and I've been able to pick-up shifts whenever I have been in a bind.
2. I really love my co-workers. I couldn't have found a better group of people with such great personalities.
3. Really laid back job. I love being able to be myself and just bullshit with the customers.
4. The perks were great! Half off all food purchases, a free beer at the end of every shift (really is was free beer anytime, but don't tell anyone that), and free movies.

Why I am leaving here:
1. The guy who has been managing for the past two plus years is a total douche bag! and an awful manager.
2. Cockroaches!
3. All perks have been taken away.
4. Hourly wages have been halved.
5. As my horticulture business has been growing, I have had less and less time. I have been leaving high paying jobs early in order to make my shifts here.

What I am going to miss:
1. My co-workers. This place has been my social outlet for 4 years. I don't go out a whole lot, and I've been ok with that. But without this outlet, I'm going to have to start getting creative so that I don't go nuts.
2. ...nothing.
I have been playing with this idea for some time now. I have been very hesitant to go through with it, and worried that I was making the wrong decision. Making this list has made me feel a lot better.

Thanks.

Grandma

My grandmother passed away last weekend. She was 90 and tired and ready to move on. I am happy that she is not stuck in her old broken down body anymore. It is a relief to not see her suffering anymore. I think this is why I have not cried as much as I think I should. It will hit me sometime, how much I miss her. I will probably get all my crying out then.

Grandma died seven years after my grandfather, on their 66th wedding anniversary. They loved each other so much. I'm not religious. I don't have a seance of what comes after this life. But this makes me wonder about the forces out there. I'd like to believe that Grandma and Grandpa are out there dancing together somewhere in the great beyond.

Dorothy Parker Bobble Head

I had a dream last night about a Dorothy Parker Bobble Head.
...I don't think they exist.

2 weeks in paradise.

OMG! I'm so excited!!!! I just locked in my wedding/honeymoon plans.
Get this:

Arrive MAUI 3:30pm
Stay at the Prince Hotel 7 nights
island hop to Kauai 7 nights
Leave Kauai 9:05pm

That's 2 whole weeks! I don't think I've ever been on vacation for 2 whole weeks, ever! And certainly not in paradise.
Have you ever been? Do you have any "Must Do/See" things to put on the list?

SO excited!

Starving to Death!

I worked my waitressing gig this evening. I felt like I was starving to death! All this wonderful beer and cheese covered fried food everywhere. I'm going to have the hardest time with the work nights, that is for sure. I did it though. I made it out of there without compromising my new goals. I'm pretty proud of myself.

5 Months

It occurred to me this morning that I only have 5 months to lose weight for my wedding pictures. 5 MONTHS! I can do it. I can...I know I can. Oh shit. I think I'm going to have to give up on the booze and the coffee for a while to help push it along though. Can I do that?!

This is going to be a rough 5 months.

The Bridal Shop

I went to my first bridal store today to look at dresses. It was rough. I went by myself. I think that activity is meant to be done with a girlfriend or two and a bottle of champagne. Most were too small (depressing) and all were WAY too gaudy. I'm a simple person with simple taste. The pushy sales people did not understand simple. I think I was just in the wrong store.

There was one that I liked. I think that the only reason I liked it was because it was built with it's own bustiere. The top was so sculpted, anyone would look good in that dress. It held itself up, my little girls didn't have to do any of the work. There was also no chance in hell any flab was going to squeeze out into the wrong places. It was perfect. :)

Me, on blogging.

Ok, that was pretty pathetic for my first blog post ever. Especially considering that I have been thinking about blogging ever since I stopped working for the winter.

I don't know why it is that I have been so interested in starting a blog. I'm not a good writer, I'm a little (when I say a little, I mean a lot) self conscious (pretty much in general,) and I don't know anything about Html. I guess I'm going to have to start learning. I've been inspired by a few blogs to start my own. I hope they don't mind me sharing them:

http://www.dooce.com/
http://www.therobinson3.blogspot.com/
http://readsinsights.ning.com/
http://goldteef.blogspot.com/

I think it's the strong female personalities that have drawn me to these blogs, or the women behind them. I have a lot of respect for smart women that can throw it all out there for us to see. Thanks Ladies! I have been in need of some good inspiration.
